Foods That Effectively Fight Arthritis

Arthritis is a debilitating health condition that has several different forms affecting bones and causing physical infirmity. The basic manifestation of this is pain, swelling and inflammation. It can affect the quality of life, causing uncalled hindrances in the day-to-day activities. Diet, exercise and lifestyle too can improve the condition of the sufferer, along with regular treatment. The diet that is best suited for a patient suffering from arthritis is the one that includes items which can fight inflammation, alleviate pain and work as an immune booster.

1. Fish

Fish is a major part of the anti-inflammatory diet as it is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. Fish like salmon, tuna and sardines help reduce joint swelling and pain. Acids like EPA and DHA that are part of omega-3 fatty acids inhibit inflammation by working at the cellular level. These acids are not only helpful in fighting joint pain but also in preventing cardiac problems and clogging of arteries.

2. Turmeric

This has been part of the medicinal system and cuisine of the Indian subcontinent for ages. One of the many benefits of turmeric is its anti-inflammatory property. It is known to be effective in preventing pain, swelling and inflammation related to arthritis by blocking cytokines and enzymes responsible for the body’s inflammatory response.

3. Green tea

The polyphenols which are plant derived compounds found in green tea boost the immune system and protect against auto-immune disorders like Rheumatoid Arthritis. It also has anti-inflammatory substances like EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate) that halt the progress of inflammation leading to cartilage damage.
A new variant called ‘Shooneez Green Tea’ introduced by a reputed healthcare organisation contains the finest quality of decaffeinated green tea along with the uniqueness of Nigella Sativa. It activates the body’s immune system, increases vitality and busts stress. Nigella Sativa is a ‘Panacea’ in true sense, owing to its tremendous efficacy in preventing diseases and potent anti-inflammatory properties.
